The 2025 American Music Awards took place in Las Vegas — but instead of a glamorous, exciting event, it turned out to be one of the dullest and most disappointing award shows in recent years.
Hosted by Jennifer Lopez, the show struggled with several technical issues, low attendance, and a lack of big-name stars. Many of the top nominees, including Taylor Swift, didn’t show up. Honestly, I didn’t watch the show either — I just went to sleep. From what I heard and saw online, I didn’t miss much.
The Performances
Jennifer Lopez opened the show with an energetic dance number that ended with her kissing two of her dancers — a moment that quickly went viral on social media. But even this bold opening couldn’t save the night from feeling flat.
Rod Stewart received the Lifetime Achievement Award and gave an emotional performance of Forever Young. Janet Jackson was honored with the ICON Award for her legendary career in music.

The Taylor Swift Snub
Many fans were expecting a surprise appearance from Taylor Swift, possibly to announce Reputation (Taylor’s Version). With six nominations, her absence was hard to ignore — especially since she didn’t win a single award. As a Reputation-era fan myself, I have to say, the constant teasing of this re-release is starting to feel tiring. We’ve been waiting for over two years now. The excitement is wearing off.
What Did You Think?
Did you watch the show? What was your favorite moment — if any? Or were you, like many others, disappointed by the night?
